Blockader is a 2D roguelite arena shooter set on a colorful lunar battlefield. You control a small space character while automatic weapons handle the attacks. Your job is to survive the waves and keep your character out of danger.
The run has two sides. One side is about movement. The other is about building power. You clear enemies, collect Stars, choose new cards, and prepare for the next wave. Your choices slowly change how your character fights.
A Blockader run follows a simple rhythm:
Enter → Move → Clear → Upgrade → Repeat.
Enemies enter the ring from different directions. Defeat enough of them to fill the wave meter. The next stage then begins with a new group of threats.
After a wave, several random upgrade cards appear. Pick one and add its effect to the current build. This can change your attacks, damage effects, projectiles, or support abilities.
The game has 100+ upgrade cards across 4 rarities. Some cards add extra bullets. Others introduce chain lightning, poison, arrows, or Dragon Allies.
Do not judge it alone.
Check your existing upgrades first. A card that strengthens an effect you already use can create a better combination than a completely new effect. Use Space to reroll the available choices when a different selection is needed.
Stars collected during runs are used for progression outside the current wave. Stars can be spent on upgrades between runs. Gear comes in three types: Offense, Defense, and Utility.
You can also play as 6 characters. Lucky, Byte, Spark, Orbit, Sludge, and Spike. Lucky is available first, while the other characters add more ways to approach future runs.
The game has 8 melee danger tiers. The higher the pressure becomes, the more important movement and build quality become. There is also a ranged Sniper, so simply watching enemies around your character is not enough.
Blockader also includes an upgrade collection, a wave leaderboard, permanent Gear progression, and character Skill Trees. These systems give you goals beyond simply finishing one wave.
